BY PETER DE KUSTER FOR THE BLOG "HEROINE'S JOURNEY" IN WORDPRESS [interview october the 6 2016]
What is the best thing that I love about my work?
I love the freedom to move and to dispose of my time without having to answer to a boss. I love feeling free to create something unique, personal and
inimitable.
What is my idea of perfect happiness?
Have a clear conscience, commit themselves to resolving their lives, trying with every effort to be themselves.
What is my greatest fear?
Failing to be able to pay the expenses, because for an artist is very difficult to have stable and sufficient payments.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
Not bad enough!, when they see that they are sensitive, a lot of people if they take advantage.
What is my greatest extravagance?
Be a person after all, normal. When I was very young, I thought that being an artist behaving madness. But is not so. It takes a lot of common sense and a lot of
logic to become good artists.
On what occasion would I lie?
To gain an advantage, but only for material, for survival.
What is the influence of role models, in my work and in my life?
I’m a lone wolf, I work alone, I have no role models except myself, of course, with many important cultural references in the world of art and poetry.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
Patience! No mandatory working hours. Great effort and great commitment to achieve simple results, but it’s all in my hands. When I see a result that I like, my
soul flies high.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
When I paint I am really myself, so I’m happy.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I would be a little bit cynical at times, the art world is not beautiful and pure as the soul of many artists, including me!
What is my greatest achievement in work?
When I manage to sell one of my paintings. Victory is being able to maintain economically with my work.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
I live in Modigliana, it’s a charming little town rich of pleasant places to photograph and paint. There is not a precise place of inspiration, but overall, the
history of this village, its beauty, its being a little out of time.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?
Here you can eat and drink very well, a nice glass of Sangiovese and tagliatelle with meat sauce, there is also a very nice
Neapolitan pizzeria, although the location of my village is in the north of Italy.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
In the crime of paint? Well, sometimes the anger… maybe, the hate!… helps to work harder.
Whom would I like to work with in the future?
I’m working on two projects. I want to create a painting school here in town, to teach the basics of the “en plein air” painting.
Currently I have started a new trend for the subjects that I have used in painting: tell many stories rugby. I find that rugby is incredibly expressive in its use of the bodies.
Michelangelo would have gone crazy to watch a rugby match!
What project, in the nearby future, am I looking forward to work on?
I’m trying to derive an economic livelihood from my job, to do this I have to figure out what people expect from me as my work can be perceived as “useful” and not
just as a hobby. There is a big injury on the work of painters that compromises the ability to sell. I’m trying to make people understand that the usefulness of my work is not visible
immediately, that the art of fruits in the long run. To benefit from it, get it together.
